‘Cadillac’ actor Cadence ‘determined’ to stay at the center of her career

After her stunning performance in the new film “The Piano,” star Cadence “Darius” Johnson was one of the few celebrities to come out swinging about her upcoming movie, “Cadence.”

“I’m determined to keep working and stay at this center of my life,” Johnson said in a statement.

“My heart is still with the family and my fans.

They have done the best they can with what they have.”

The film, about a teenage girl’s struggle to reconcile her growing desire to pursue her dreams and her mother’s demands that she stay home and not get involved in the world of fashion, has been touted as a reboot of her 2010 breakout film, “A Beautiful Mind.”

Johnson’s “Caddyshack” co-star Ciara has also been a staunch critic of the film, calling it “fraudulent and dangerous” in a new interview with PEOPLE.

“There are so many things that are wrong with this film,” Ciara said.

“It’s so contrived and not believable.

It’s not true to what she did and how she’s doing things.

It just makes her feel like she’s getting more attention than she deserves.”

Ciara is the second of Johnson’s daughters, Maddie, 16, to have been cast as the lead role in the film.

She was cast as Adrienne, a teenager in the drama.

“I am thrilled and honored to have my sisters Ciara and Maddie on the movie, as well as the entire cast and crew, including Adrienna herself, for this incredible and wonderful project,” Johnson told PEOPLE in the statement.

But Johnson and her husband, rapper Lil Uzi Vert, were quick to point out that the film is not about Adrienanne.

“Cindi and Maddi are not playing Adriennne.

They are playing different characters,” she said in the interview.

“They are not even in the movie.

They’re just friends.”
